Object Pronouns

Pronouns are noun words that can be used in place of the names of entities in a sentence and can fulfill all the functions that nouns do. Object pronouns are pronouns that replace the object noun in a sentence.

The pronouns mentioned are “I, me” for the first person singular, “you” for the second person singular, and “he, she, it, him, her” for the third person singular. “we” and “us” are used for the first person plural, “you” is used again for the second person plural, and “they” and “them” are used for the third person plural. If we need to show them through a table, we can use a table like the one below.

In the example sentence given above, object pronouns are preferred to subject pronouns. After the verb “be”, “object pronouns” is generally used.

 

Albert is less overweight than me.

You are much more beautiful than her.

Object pronouns are used after words like “than” and “as”. We wanted to show this in the two example sentences we gave above.

 

These gifts are not for me, they are for you.

Who is this woman? Why are you traveling with him?

We are going on vacation to Miami. Do you want to join us?

Object pronouns are used after the prepositions, namely the words “as”, “in”, and “for”. We wanted to show this in the three example sentences we gave above.

The number of examples given above can easily be multiplied. We use object pronouns quite often in our daily lives, and this allows us to save words when speaking or writing, just like other pronouns.
